제목 Crystallization behaviors of PET/clay nanocomposites
초록 Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is a polymer with a slow crystallization rate and a high melting temperature. But it has been reported that the crystallization behavior is changed in the case of adding clay filler into PET. That is to say, the crystallization rate is increased by 2 ~ 3 times compared to pure PET. The increased crystallinity usually results in haze of the preform for bottle packaging, especially at high clay loading levels, which greatly limits the processing of the PET/Clay Nanocomposite (PCN)1,2.

To overcome this problem, PET/Clay Nanocomposites were prepared by in-situ polymerization with trimellitate ester oligomer (TM and TMIP) including montmorillonite (MMT). And the isothermal crystallization studies of the PCNs were performed from the glassy state to various crystallization temperatures.

The crystallization time of the TM-PCN was faster than MMT-PCN, but the TMIP-PCN had slow crystallization time compare to MMT-PCN. All of the PCNs had shortening effects of the crystallization time with increasing crystallization temperature from 120 to 140 °C. The Avrami constants were obtained from the isothermal crystallization and the values of the PCNs were from 1.9 to 2.6.
