H2S-O2 혼합기체를 이용한 탄소나노튜브의 고수율 정제 |

An simple and efficient purification method of carbon nanotubes synthesized by an arc-discharge process has been developed using both liquid treatment and gas phase oxidation. An acid solution of 3 M HCl was used for removal of metal particles from SWNTs. Thermal oxidation method using H2S and O2 mixed gases was applied to remove amorphous carbon and nanoparticles. After the acid treatment and thermal oxidation at 500℃ for 1 h, very high density of carbon nanotubes were observed at random orientation with no carbon nanoparticles and amorphous carbon. The process resulted in high purity (> 95 %) and high yields of 20 - 50 %.
