There's an increasing demand for cheap, light and large capacity batteries these days. Lithium sulfur battery is one of the most probable candidates for the next generation battery. However, there are still many problems for commercialization. ⅰ) The insulating nature of sulfur lead to poor active material utilization and low active material loading level. ⅱ) The dissolution of reaction intermediates (Li2SX, 8>X>4) lead to active material loss and shuttle phenomena. ⅲ) And precipitation of electrically insulating Li2S2/Li2S materials on the surface of both electrodes hinder the mass transference. In order to improve the lithium sulfur battery performance, micro- and/or mesoporous carbons were used. It can hold sulfur and trap the polysulfide efficiently due to its large pore volume and high specific surface area. Here we applied titanium carbide derived carbon material for lithium sulfur battery and tried to understand the working mechanism. |
