제목 Calcination of Brucite for Mineral Carbonation
초록 Greenhouse gas has been diffused into the air without any restriction since using a fossil fuel. A countermeasure of carbon dioxide was demanded continueously all of the world. Mineral carbonation was introduces a stable candidate to carbon dioxide sequestration.
Calcination procedure and mineralogical changes were investigated into brucite powder which is predicted a mineral carbonation material. Higher magnesium content was found out form brucite powers. A weight loss due to hydroxy group(-OH) elimination, explained by FT-IR spectra and TGA analysis, was obtained after calcination. X-ray diffraction results showed that the crystallographic changes of brucite into magnesium oxides after calcination. XPS core spectra also showed chemical transformation of magnesium ingredient from hydroxide formation to oxide state.
