As it is well known, organic esters are valuable intermediates in chemical indus ry. For instance, trimethylol propane oleate is one of the important esters of the fatty acid family, because of its potential applications in the field of lubricants. Particularly, it can be effectively applied as a lubricant for high temperature textile fibers, automotive engines, multigrade gears, compressors, power transmissions fluids etc. Based on the augmenting demand for trimethylol propane oleate, esterification of oleic acid with trimethyl-ol propane was carried out heterogeneously using TiO2 -ZrO2 binary mixed oxides as catalysts under solvent free conditions. |
