Ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of tricyclic norborneneimide monomers, exo,exo-1,1a,4,4a,5,6,7,8-octahydro-1,4-methanonaphthalene-6,7-dicarboxylic cyclohexylimide and n-hexylimide, has been reported to produce a polymer with good thermal stability and trasparency. In this study, tricyclic norborneneimide monomers were copolymerized with norbornene and 1,5-cyclooctadiene. Proportion of tricyclic functional monomers were controlled so that the copolymers maintain their solubility during the polymerization . Details of polymerization and physical properties of the copolymers will be presented. |
