Consideration of the sub-micron particles produced for the sample concentration during a stirred ball milling on calcite powders |

The need for the sub-micron particles has been increased in preparation field of raw powders such as fine ceramics and high functional products. Among different techniques, the stirred ball mill was paid attention because it easily make sub-micron particle. In the present work, a series of wet grinding experiments were carried out on inorganic powders such as calcite using stirred ball mill method. The grinding rate on the sub-micron range was measured and the comminution coefficient on the grinding rate (K) in the grinding kinetics equation was examined. It is observed that the grinding rate for calcite in the sub-micron size range is different for different the sample concentrations. The K improved by maximum 1.6 times on 700 rpm and 19.1 times 300 rpm for various sample concentrations respectively. We confirmed that sample concentration affected the grinding rate of the sub-micron size powder during a grinding process. |
