Synthesis and characterization of water-soluble graphene oxide |

Graphene nanosheet has received a great attention in a variety of application fields because of its extraordinary electronic, thermal and mechanical properties. Aqueous suspension of graphene oxide(GO) was first prepared from graphite powder via a modified Hummers method. Graphene oxide and DMSO were loaded in a round bottom flask and sonicated for 1 h to prepare a colloidal suspension of graphene oxide. However, a modification of graphene nanosheet leading to the generation of solvent-soluble one seems to overcome its limited application. In this respect, graphene oxide was reacted with living polymeric alkoxide leading to the formation of graphene oxide -g- PEO. It is expected that graphene -g- PEO should be water-soluble and might exhibit a good electronic property. The resulting substance was found to be effective to stabilize several metals and metal oxide nanoparticles. The prelimary results will be discussed in this presentation. |
