Two types of polymer electrolytes (PEs):- (i) based on an electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) {P(VdF-HFP)} microporous membrane activated with different liquid electrolytes including room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs), and (ii) based on poly(ethylene oxide)-lithium salt blend (PEO-LiX) modified by adding RTILs, have been evaluated for their performance in lithium batteries. The PEs exhibit high ionic conductivity, good electrochemical stability and compatibility with lithium electrode. High discharge capacities as well as good cycle performances are realized by employing the above PEs in Li/LiFePO4 cells at room temperature and 40°C, demonstrating their suitability in lithium batteries. |
