Novel thioester-based membrane with chlorination resistance for Salinity gradient power systems |
초록 |
A salinity gradient power system (SGP) can potentially produce an estimated 2 TW of electricity (13% of global electricity consumption). Water semi permeable membranes has developed to improve the water flux and salt rejection. An aromatic polyamide active layer widely used for reverse osmosis and forward osmosis has the limitation of chlorination process which can cause degradation of amide bonding. This work presents the fabrication and evaluation of a novel thin-film composite membrane with a thioester active layer formed by interfacial polymerization. For the supporting layer electrospun aligned fibers were used to enhance mechanical strength and maintain the high porosity. Bio-inspired hydrophilic polymer polydopamine(PDA) was coated on the supporting layer to promotes the hydrophilicity with high water permeability. We demonstrate a thioester active layer capable of improving the salt rejection, as well as chemical stability. |
