제목 Highly Selective Reduction of Nitrobenzene Derivativesto Azoxybenzene Compounds Using a New Porous Polymer Reagent
초록 We synthesized a new porous crosslinked copolymer particle from styrene and new monomer in the presence of divinyl benzene by a suspension polymerization(DS28D). The porous polymer was used as a polymer reagent for conventional organic reductions: nitrobenzene and its derivatives(o-ethyl nitrobenzene, o-methyl nitrobenzene and so on) were reduced in high yield by using a Zn/NH4Cl system in water in the presence of the prepared copolymer particles without any organic solvent at mild conditions. Unlike the conventional reduction utilizing the Zn/NH4Cl system, the use of small amount of polymer reagent enables the highly selective reduction of nitrobenzene derivatives to azoxybenzene compounds due to the orientation effects of the polymer reagent.
