제목 | Evaluation of the Small Intestine Submucosa/Poly(lactide-co-glycolide) Scaffolds for Tissue Engineered Bone |
초록 | In order to endow with new bioactive functionality from small intestine submucosa (SIS) powder as natural source to poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) as synthetic biodegradable polymer, porous SIS/PLGA as natural/synthetic composite scaffold was prepared by means of the salt leaching/solvent casting methods for the possibility of the application of tissue engineered bone. The SIS was isolated from porcine intestine. It is primarily an acellular extracellular matrix material and can induce tissue remodeling because of the various growth factors. Therefore, these growth factors can induce the various tissues. In this study, we observed the role of SIS/PLGA scaffolds using bone marrow stem cell differentiated osteogenic cells in vivo. Characterizations of SIS/PLGA scaffolds were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), mercury porosimetry, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and so on. The SIS/PLGA scaffolds that were implanted athymic nude mouse were evaluated by alkaline phosphate activity and histochemical staining such as H&E, von Kossa, and alizarine red S staining. In conclusion, it seems that SIS plays an important role for bone induction in SIS/PLGA scaffolds for tissue engineering.
