Preparation of Graphite Nanosheet by Electric Explosion Process in Liquid |

Graphite nanosheet was prepared using electrical explosion process in liquid. The acid treated and non-treated graphite rods with diameter of 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm were used as raw materials. Explosion process was carried out in deionized water and ethanol with voltage in the range of 1-3 kV. The average grain size, microstructure and morphology of the graphite nanosheets were characterized by XRD, TEM and SEM. The Raman spectrum was used to confirm the D-band and G-band behavior of synthesized graphite. The results showed that explosion in ethanol can intercalate the graphite into nanosheet better than that in water. Acid treated graphite rod can enhance the exfoliation of graphite nanosheet. The nanosheets prepared with HNO3 treated rod were less than 50 nm in thickness and 1 – 10 µm in diameter. |
