The mean-field phase behavior of model systems of A/B/A-b-B ternary blends is considered with the help of a compressible Landau analysis, which is introduced recently to polymer field by Cho. Self- and cross-interactions between monomers are designed to yield diversified behavior such as UCST, LCST, and immiscibility loop. Instead of constructing the entire phase diagram of those ternary blend systems, we only look into symmetric isoplethic mixtures with the same homopolymer compositions and chain lengths. Various aspects of those blends such as compatibilization, bicontinuous microemulsions, and tricritical and/or Liftshitz (tri)critical points are discussed in connection with differences in chain lengths between homopolymers and copolymers and also in self-interactions between two species. |
