Nanocrystalline Ru-doped SnO2: synthesis and gas sensing properties |

Pure and Ru incorporated nanocrystalline SnO2 gas sensing materials were synthesized using a modified Pechini route. The systematic study of Ru incorporation in SnO2 revealed correlation of Ru concentration with the particle size and sensing properties. Interestingly, incorporation of Ru in the SnO2 results in the decrease in particle size (8.3 nm) as compared to that with pure SnO2 (18.2 nm). Moreover, the sensor exhibited a reasonably good sensitivity with fast response towards both H2 and LPG. The effect of Ru incorporation, operating temperature, and gas concentration on the structure, morphology and sensitivity is established using techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) along with sensing properties. |
