Photorefractivity(PR), which refers to the spatial modulation of the refractive index of material under the illumination of the nonuniform light, is based on the combined effects of photoconductivity and electro-optic property. Due to their unique features such as photosensitivity, reversibility and beam amplification, the polymeric PR polymers have been considered as promising materials in the fields of optical data storage and information processing. Yet, characterization of the temporal dynamics in polymeric PR material is not an easy task. First of all, the growth of the space-charge field is a complicated function of various photoelectric rates that in most cases cannot be described with a single exponential. Second, the convolution of the space- charge field dynamics with noninstantaneous chromophore orientational response to yield the overall PR response speed further complicates the matter. For this reason, we studied for dynamics of PR formation in according to both space-charge field dynamics and chromophore orientational dynamics. |
