Characterization and fabrication of HDPE/EPDM Composites |

Flame-retardant composite that consists of a high density polyethylene (HDPE) and ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymer can be used as an insulation material such as in wires and cables. In this study, EPDM was blended into HDPE at different weight percents. The flammability property of the HDPE/EPDM composites was measured by a UL flammability test. The mechanical properties of the composites such as the modulus and strain-stress were measured by 3 point bending test. The thermal property was characterized using TGA. The surface microstructure of the composite was observed by SEM analysis. |
