제목 Synthesis and Properties of Acrylic-Polyurethane Hybrid Emulsions
초록 Polyurethanes(PUs) have been widely accepted for various applications due to their good properties which can be tailor made. But the conventional solvent based PUs will be restricted in their traditional applications sooner or later, due to the demands of economics, safety and environmental regulations, so aqueous based PUs should replace the solvent based ones. However, aqueous PUs are inferior mechanical properties as compared with the conventional solvent based PUs.
In general, acrylic resins show excellent properties in terms of hardness, gloss, weatherability and chemical resistance, but they show lower properties as toughness, resistance, elongation and softness than PUs. So hybrid emulsions are expected to provide the advantages of acrylic polymers and also plus the advantages of PUs. In this study, acrylic-polyurethane hybrid emulsions were prepared by converting amphiphilic acrylic-polyurethane copolymers. Aqueous PUs were prepared from poly (tetramethylene adipate) glycol(PTAd), isophoronediisocyante(IPDI), 1,4-butane diol(BD), dimethylolpropionic acid(DMPA), triethylamine(TEA) and 2-hydroxymethacrylate(HEMA). And then acrylic copolymer was polymerized with acrylic acid(AA), TEA, butyl acrylate(BA) and methylmethacrylate(MMA). We studied emulsion properties, thermal and mechanical properties, morphology, and adhesive property.
