제목 | Dispersion Polymerization of Acrylamide |
초록 | Dispersion polymerization is a unique polymerization process, capable of forming particles of 0.1 to 15μm in a single step. During dispersion polymerization the polymer precipitates from the originally homogeneous reaction mixture containing monomer, initiator, solvent and stabilizer. In this study, acrylamide was polymerized in a aqueous ammonium sulfate media by using 2,2'-azobis(2-methylpropionamidine) dihydrochloride as the initiator and poly(dimethylamino ethylacrylate methylchloride quaternary) as the polymeric stabilizer. Various acrylamide dispersion polymerization was carried out to study the effects of concentration of initiator, amount of monomer, polymerization temperature on the particle size of the resulting poly(acrylamide) latex. The resulting conversion-time curves were S-shaped, as is typically observed in dispersion polymerization. Polydisperse spherical particles were formed in the system. An image analyzer photographed the size of the dispersed particles and their distribution was measured. |
