A series of copolymers, poly(BOPF-co-NEHC)s were synthesized from the monomers, 2,7-dibromo-9,9-bis(4’-n-octyloxyphenyl))fluorene (PBOPF) and 2,7-dibromo-N-(2’-ethyhexyl)carbazole (NEHC) through the Ni(0) mediated polymerization. The copolymers were characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, TGA, photoluminescence (PL) & electroluminescence (EL) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and molecular weight studies. Light-emitting devices were fabricated in an ITO (indium-tin oxide) /PEDOT/polymer/Ca/Al configuration. The EL spectra showed similar emissions to the PL results, and the EL devices using the copolymer showed improved quantum efficiencies than the device using polyfluorene homopolymer. Synthesis, PL and EL properties of poly(BOPF-co-NEHC)s will be presented. |
