ZrO2 is well known as a material for structural applications due to its excellent properties, such as high mechanical strength, fracture toughness, and hardness. Nano ZrO2 particles have a very low thermal conductivity and exhibit superior mechanical properties such as high strength and flexibility. Heat insulating properties and oxygen-ion conductivity indicate that ZrO2 has potential for applying in a wide variety of applications. Synthesis techniques from liquid solution phase can be divided into two classes: (1) precipitation, co-precipitation, controlles hydrolysis of metal alkoxides, and hydrothermal methods and (2) evaporation or evaporative decomposition. In this work, we study preparation of nano-sized ZrO2 particles by the different methods. |
