Organically modified montmorillonite (Cloisite 30B) was chemically modified by using hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). Poly (l-lactide) (PLLA) / Cloisite 30B and chemically modified MMT nanocomposites (1, 3, 5, 10 wt%) were produced via solution casting, respectively. The chemical structure of the chemically modified MMT was checked using FTIR. Thermal properties of nanocomposites were measured using DSC. WAXD measurement was carried out to confirm the basal spacing of respective MMT clays and dispersion of MMT clay in nanocomposites. Dynamic viscoelastic behavior of neat PLLA and PLLA with different clay loading was characterized by DMA experiments. And mechanical properties of neat PLLA and its nanocomposites were tested using UTM. |
