Synthesis and characterization of LiNi0.7Mn0.3O2 as a cathode material for lithium ion batteries |

Co-free layered cathode mateirals of LiNi0.7Mn0.3O2 were prepared by co-precipitation method using a 4L CSTR (continuous stirred-tank reactor) and calcination at 900℃ for 10h in air. The solution pH was varied from 10.7 to 11.4 in order to obtain the optimum particle size. The resultant materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical analysis methods. We could obtain the optimum particle size of 10 μm in the pH rage 11.0 - 11.4. It delivered an initial discharge capacity of 164 mAh/g. The capacity retention after 50 cycles reached 92% approximately. |
