Mesoporous carbon nanospheres(MCNPs) with nanochannels are prepared based on a monodisperse colloidal template which composed of polystyrene core and nanostructured silica shell. The average diameter of these MCNPs is in the range of approximately 300nm and the average channel diameter located within the shell phase is 4-5nm. MCNPs were synthesized based on polystyrene nanospheres which were initially dissolved by chloroform and crosslinked by Friedel-Craft reaction within the shell phase. The crosslinked polystyrene was then heat-treated for further polymerization. The crosslinked polystyrene particles were carbonized to form a carbon shell with the silica phase. The remaining silica shell was etched with hydrogen fluoride solution to produce the carbon nanospheres with a porous nanostructure. The structure, morphology and electrochemical properties of these carbon nanospheres are characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, CV and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). |
