Synthesis and characterization of low temperature-flexible binders containing BA/BMA/PMMA copolymer |

Room temperature-curable PMMA(poly methylmethacrylate) binders have been widely used in the paint for road signs or non-slip pavement due to their excellent weather- and abrasion resistance. However, the room temperature-curable PMMA binders have been found to limits such as flacking- or cracking occurrence when they exposed to low temperature environment. To improve the flexibility of PMMA binders in low temperature, room temperature curable binder was blended with BA/BMA/MMA copolymers. The binder made of PMMA powder which was dissolved in MMA and BA/BMA sequentially containing the initiator benzoyl peroxide(BPO) required for initiating the binder curing. Tests have been carried out to determine the effects of the BA/BMA/MMA contents on the mechanical property change and thermal behavior by temperature changing. |
