We have investigated sulfonated polyol based waterborne polyurethane (PU) dispersions. A polyol containing sulfonated side chain, was used to prepare waterborne PU dispersions through the prepolymer mixing process in this study, which represented their sulfonate content of 1.5%, 1.7%, 2.0%, respectively. And the prepolymer mixing process was used to avoid the use of organic solvents, e.g., NMP, acetone. Sulfonated polyol based waterborne PU dispersions were studied using the particle size analyzer (PSA), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). In particular, the effects of the sulfonate content on the properties of the waterborne PU dispersions were investigated. |
