Hypervalent iodine reagent, 2-iodoxybenzoic acid (IBX), has received a lot of attention due to its mildness, stability, high selectivity, low toxicity, and easy availability in oxidation of alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes or ketones. Despite its numerous advantages, IBX is insoluble in most common organic solvents. Various polymer-supported IBX derivatives have been studied to address this problem. However, most of the reagents still could not be used in environment-friendly solvent. Therefore, we have developed amphiphilic polymer-supported IBX amide and successfully oxidized several alcohols in water. We believe that our amphiphilic polymer-supported IBX amide would be a powerful supported reagent in oxidizing alcohols in water medium. |
