Synthesis and characterization of novel copolymers based on polythiophene derivatives for organic photovoltaic applications. |

Here, we synthesized a novel series of solution processible thiophene polymer with a hydrogen-bond-forming urethane group in the side chain, poly[2-(3-thienyl)ethanol n-butoxycarbonylmethylurethane](PURET). Also we synthesized copolymer using mixture of PURET and P3HT. These polymers were found to be stable in common organic solvent and are easily spin-coated onto glass substrate, producing high optical quality thin films without defects .The resulting polymers were characterized elemental analysis (EA), DSC, and TGA. The bulk heterojunction solar cells with ITO/PEDOT:PSS/Polymer:PC60BM/TiOX/Al configuration were fabricated. The bulk heterojunction solar cell of blend of copolymer PURET:P3HT (ratio 1:2) and PC60BM exhibited power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 1.58% (JSC=5.58mA/cm2, VOC=0.82V, FF=34.53%) measured using AM 1.5G solar simulator at 100mW/cm2 light illumination. |
