제목 The Role of Solvent Additives on Conductivity Enhancement of Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) Films
초록 We report the role of solvent additives (dimethylsulfoxide; DMSO) on conductivity enhancement of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) films by employing optical reflectance and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. Despite huge increase in conductivities from 1.5 to 700 S/cm by adding DMSO, the plasma frequency for both films of aqueous solutions with and without DMSO is almost identical, indicating the same charge carrier concentration of both PEDOT:PSS films. On the other hand, the increased mean free path implies that DMSO induces the reduction of disorder in the PEDOT:PSS film. In addition, the XRD diffractograms indicate that the addition of DMSO leads to more planar structure of PEDOT:PSS backbone, shortening the phase-to-phase stacking distance at the [010] direction. As a result, this morphological change in the PEDOT:PSS film with DMSO causes phase transition from the insulating regime to the metallic regime.
