Adsorption characteristics of cesium onto basalt based nanostructured materials |
초록 |
Cesium as natural compounds presents about 3 ppm in crust and about 0.3 ppb in seawater. They have been generally used in fiber optic communication systems, night-vision equipment and metal ion catalysts. However, the radioactive isotope 137Cs is a well-known major radioactive component which can cause cancer or genetic disease. The developments of proper treatment technologies are therefore getting more and more attention. In this study, nanostructured natural resources were used to examine the adsorption characteristics of cesium. The prepared nanostructured adsorbent was characterized by using XRD, SEM, FTIR, N2 and CO2 adsorption analysis. Adsorption equilibrium isotherms were also obtained at different conditions such as the initial concentration, adsorbent dosage, pH, and temperature. Moreover, their cesium adsorption properties were comparatively investigated using adsorption isotherm models and adsorption energy distribution function. |
