초록 | Silk fibroin (SF), produced by silkworm, Bombyx mori, is one of typical natural protein polymer. Over the centuries, SF has been used as highly valuable textile fibers due to its qualities of strength, elasticity, softness, absorbency, and affinity to dyes. Other applications of SF include surgical suture due to its good physicochemical properties and relatively inert immune response for a long time. Recently, biomedical and pharmaceutical applications of SF has been intensively studied due to no blood and cell toxicity of SF. SF is one of multi-block natural copolymer, composed of hydrophobic crystalline portions and hydrophilic amorphous portions. In this study, therefore, SF complex was prepared by conjugation with activated PEG. The physicochemical properties of SF/PEG complex was examined and self-assembled SF nanoparticles were prepared and characterized to evaluate the potential as a novel delivery vehicles for bioactive materials. |
