Among the energy-storage systems, supercapacitors (SCs) are particularly interesting, due to their simple energy storage mechanism, high power density, short charging times, long cycle-life stability and favorable safety considerations. Despite of large power densities, SCs exhibit low energy densities making them less applicable to energy storage systems, as opposed to batteries and fuel cells. In this report, we introduce fabrication of close-packed polypyrrole-coated Co(OH)2 architectures for highly capacitive electrochemical capacitors by using electrodeposition and vapor deposition polymerization. The solid-state asymmetric supercapacitors (ACSs) showed high volumetric capacitance (27.4 F cm-3) and energy density (10.53 m Wh cm-3). Furthermore, the ASCs exhibited high cycle stability and power density (0.53 W cm-3). |
