Nitroazoles are expected to be the promising building blocks for new high explosives as they have aromaticity and high heat of formations. 3,4,5-trinitropyrazole(TNP) and 2,4,5-trinitroimidazole(TNI) are well known azole based molecular explosives. Several synthetic routes were reported to synthesize those trinitroazoles efficiently. Nitrodeiodination is one of the most popular method to synthesize trinitroazoles. Herein, we will present energetic functionalization studies on triiodopyrazole and triiodoimidazole. |
