제목 In vitro anti-inflammatory effect of ceramic particles in PLGA/inorganic composites for bone implants
초록 PLGA/β-TCP composites have been widely studied in bone implant application fields due to their biodegradability and osteoconductibility. However, acidic degradation products of the PLGA are known to cause inflammation of surrounding tissue. In this study, we developed the PLGA/inorganic composite implants using magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) and β-TCP as inorganic components. Mg(OH)2 is known for its acid-neutralizing and anti-inflammatory effects. PLGA and PLGA/inorganic composites were prepared via twin extrusion processing. The PLGA and PLGA/inorganic composites were characterized by using GPC, TGA, DSC, UTM and FE-SEM. Biocompatibility of the composites were evaluated by CCK-8, live/dead, TRAP staining, and blood compatibility assays. In vitro anti-inflammatory effect of Mg(OH)2 was evaluated by IL-6 ELISA kit. The results were demonstrated that the mechanical and anti-inflammatory properties of PLGA were improved by adding Mg(OH)2 particles.
