In this study, we demonstrate a simple and effective method to generate one-dimensional nanostructures by using friction-transfer technique (FTT). As a bar of poly(1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) was physically rubbed on Si substrate at high temperature, well-oriented PTFE nano-lines along the rubbing direction were produced by friction between PTFE and the surface. Then, a variety of polymer thin films including polystyrene and poly(vinyl pyridine) were deposited on PTFE patterns followed by oxygen plasma treatment to remove PTFE patterns selectively due to etching contrast between different polymers. After the etching process, the polymer layer that existed between PTFE nano-lines was only remained while PTFE nano-lines completely removed. This polymer layer was utilized as templates to fabricate metallic nano-lines via electroless deposition process. Consequently, highly oriented metallic nano-lines were generated in large area. |
