Micellization and vesiculation of poly [2-(methacryloyloxy) ethyl phosphorylcholine]-block-poly (ε-caprolactone) block copolymers synthesized by Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization |

PMPC-based amphiphilic block copolymers have been known to reduce cell adhesion and protein adsorption due to their abilities to display both electrostatic and steric repulsions. For this reason, it has been of great interest in biomedical applications. In this work, we synthesized two types of PMPC-b-PCL block copolymers; diblock and triblock, and investigated their micellization and vesculation behaviors. PMPC-b-PCL block copolymers were synthesized by combined anionic ring-opening polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization. The structure and molecular weight of synthesized copolymers were analyzed by 1H NMR and GPC. The size and morphology of micelles and vesicles were characterized by dynamic light scattering and TEM. |
