The cosmetics industry for surfactants is generally satisfied by the manufacture of numerous synthetic, primarily chemical surfactants and petroleum-based compounds. These products are non-biodegradable, toxic to the environment, and may cause ecological problems. Accordingly, biosurfactants have been constantly increasing in recent years. Sophorolipid, a glycolipid-type biosurfactant has an 8~10 HLB value. It is biologically produced on some substrates which are from bacteria and yeast.
