Electrically conductive polymers have been widely studied for potential use as counter electrodes (CEs) for DSSCs. Among them, PANI has been intensively studied as CEs for DSSCs due to its ease of synthesis, low cost, reversible redox property, tunable conductivity, good environmental stability. In this study, we investigated the feasibility of spherical PANI nanoparticles as a counter electrode for DSSCs application. PANI nanoparticles were synthesized by dispersion polymerization in the presence of HPC using APS solution as a initiator. The synthesized PANI nanoparticles were discrete spherical nanoparticles with a uniform diameter of ~120nm. From the FT-IR analysis, it could be concluded that the PANI nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and the HPC were completely removed. The morphology of the resultants was observed using TEM. Photovoltaic performances of the PANI based DSSCs were characterized by photocurrent density-voltage and IPCE measurements. |
