제목 | Synthesis of Novel Polypyromellitimides Containing Alkyl Side Chains, and Their Liquid-Crystal Alignability |
초록 | The attachment of flexible side chains onto the rigid main chain of aromatic polyimides has been shown to be very useful to improve their processability. In most cases, the appending of the side chains was not on dianhydride monomer but on diamine one, because the latter has virtually more number of substitution sites. In the present work, a series of pyromellitic dianhydrides containing two n-alkyloxy groups at their 3 and 6 position were prepared from durene via consecutive reactions and confirmed by spectroscopic methods. The polyimides were obtained by polymerization of the dianhydride monomers with PDA, ODA, MDA, o-Tol, and 6F-BAPP. After the structures of the polyimides were elucidated, their properties such as solubility, thermal stability, phase transition, crystallinity, and LC alignability were measured and discussed in detail. |
