제목 | Double-layered polymer microspheres for controlled drug delivery |
초록 | An important approach of drug delivery systems is to achieve well-controlled drug release rates without initial burst and transmutation. One of the drug delivery systems, biodegradable microspheres can facilitate the modulation of drug release and simple to produce; offer administration through various routes including oral, pulmonary, and parenteral injection. Double-layered microspheres can suppress the intial burst of drugs and achieve the versatile release according to the polymer characteristics. 1 In this study, we fabricated the doubled-layered microspheres composed of PLGA and FITC-dextran by using mechanical stirring and ultrasonic atomizer methods. Microspheres were characterized by SEM, TEM, and fluorescence confocal microscope. We observed double layers in microspheres including the core of FITC-dextran and corona of PLGA. Also, microspheres showed continuous surface and uniform size. Therefore, double-layered microsphere systems fabricated by one step processing can be utilized with great availability in parenteral injection for controlled drug delivery systems.
