Well-defined copolyacrylate containing PEO block derived from benzyl methacrylte(BMA), trimethylsilyl methacrylate(TMSMA) was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) using the synthesized PEO macro-initiator. In order to obtain the designed PEO-block-Polyacrylate via ATRP, polymerization of BMA and TMSMA was proceeded in the optimized reaction conditions in which [Br of initiator]/[CuBr(I)]/[bpy] ratio was 1/1.5/4.5 and polymerization underwent at 90℃. The structure of synthesized copolymers has been characterized by 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of their copolymers have been analyzed by gel-permeation chromatography (GPC) and 1H-NMR. These well-defined functional PEO-block-Polyacrylate can be the promising material for many applications such as surfactants, controlled release formulation, polymer electrolyte or dispersants for nanoparticles. |
