For practical applications of SWNTs, a simple and easy method to fabricate well-organized SWNT superstructures is required. Amphiphilic molecules such as polymers can provide structural templates for well-organized SWNT superstructures due to their rich phase behavior. Therefore, SWNTs functionalized by polymers which show concentration dependent phase transition, are expected to form organized SWNT structures following the phase behavior of the polymers. Here, we investigate the structures of self-assembled Pluronic F108 solution and Pluronic F108-SWNT mixture solution using small-angle X-ray scattering. Pluronic F108-SWNT mixtures were prepared by dispersing SWNTs in Pluronic F108 solution. As the concentration of Pluronic polymer increases, Pluronic F108 in water exhibited isotropic, BCC, and crystallized Lamellar phases. However, the mixtures of SWNT and F108 showed isotropic-Hexagonal-FCC-BCC-crystallized Lamellar phases as the concentration of the F108-SWNT mixture was increased. |
