An organic/inorganic polyaniline (PANI) coated halloysite nanotube (HNT) composite was fabricated by an in situ polymerization of aniline monomer in the presence of HNT dispersion. In this study, HNT/PANI nanocomposite can improve their physical and mechanical properties, and can be applied as an electrorheological (ER) fluid. The various properties of PANI/HNT composite were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. For the different ratio of organic/inorganic composite particles, PANI/HNT composites were dispersed in silicone oil as an ER fluid, and their ER properties were observed via a Couette-type rotational rheometer with a voltage generator adopted. |
