In this study, the desalination properties of a heterogeneous ion exchange membrane were invesgated. The SPPO(Sulfonated polyphenylene oxide) was prepared by sulfonation of PPO that used chlorosulfonic acid. And it was dissolved in the solvent(DMAc) at room temparature, then blended with cation-exchange particles and PVC with SiO2. The electrochemical properties such as ion exchange capacity(IEC), Electical resistance were studied and water uptake, swelling ratio were also measured with it. As a result, heterogeneous ion exchange membranes exhibited weak electrochemical characteristics but excellent mechanical strength. |
