제목 | Fabrication of Aligned Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes using Electrospinning |
초록 | Since their discovery, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been extensively studied because of their outstanding electronic, mechanical, and thermal properties.1-3 However, the solubility of CNTs in ordinary solvents is so poor because of the low surface energy of the outer walls4 and strong intertube van der Waals interactions5, 6 that it is extremely difficult to disperse and manipulate CNTs well. Also, it is very difficult to obtain a uniform MWNT alignment on the substrate for many applications. In this study, poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA) grafted multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were prepared by ring-opening polymerization of D,L-lactide using the surface modified MWNT as an initiator. In order to introduce a functional group which can react with D,L-lactide, polyethylene glycol (PEG) was grafted onto the chlorinated MWNTs. To fabricate aligned MWNTs, the mixture of PDLLA grafted MWNTs and homo-PDLLA in DMF were electrospun between the two parallel electrodes on the water. These electrospun fibers were obtained on the silicon wafer., the polymer component was removed by heating or chemical vapor etching to confirm the alignment of MWNT within electrospun fibers.
