제목 Metallically conducting Ag/alginate hybrid fiber with superior mechanical strength and flexibility using the novel wet-spinning process
초록 Metallically conducting Ag/alginate hybrid fiber with superior mechanical properties and environmental stability is fabricated by in-situ hybridization of Ag nanoparticles using a novel wet-spinning process, where aqueous sodium salt of alginic acid (Na-alginate) solution is spun into aqueous AgNO3 coagulant. When alginic acid is complexed with silver cations in the coagulation step, the polymer solubility in water dramatically decreases, resulting in silver salt of alginic acid (Ag-alginate) fiber. The fiber is then immersed into aqueous dimethylamine borane reduction solution, by which silver cations are reduced to silver nanoparticles. Ag nanoparticles are uniformly distributed at the inside as well as on the surface of the fiber to form the most efficient conduction path, producing highly conducting hybrid fiber with the conductivity of 1,900 S/cm and the breaking stress of 240 MPa.
