The thermo-oxidative degradation and stabilization of polymers have been studiedfor a long time because the polymers are often subjected to degradation during processing or using for prolonged period at high temperature. Poly(ether-b-amide) (PEBAX) is segmented block copolymer composed of crystalline polyamide as a hard segment and polyether having low Tg as a soft segment. It is important engineering TPE since they possess excellent dynamic and mechanical properties. In this study, we employed 4,4-bis(α,α'-dimethylbenzyl)-diphenylamine (BDDA) as an additive to improve the thermo-oxidative stabilization of PEBAX. The effect of various concentrations of BDDA on thermal-oxidative degradation behavior of PEBAX was examined by TGA, FT-IR, DSC, UTM and the lifetime under long-term ageing was predicted using Arrhenius equation. |
