제목 | Optimization of Nickel mediated polymerization of polyphenylene copolymer for anion exchange membrane applications |
초록 | Ni(COD)₂ has been widely used in the synthesis of polyphenylene due to its high reactivity. However, it is expensive and non-renewable. For this reason, research to develop a low-cost catalyst to replace Ni(COD)₂ has been conducted for a long time, and one of them is a NiX₂ catalyst. NiX₂ catalysts can be regenerated by ligands and co-catalyst, allowing small amounts to be used for the polymerization. Since NiX₂ is less reactive than Ni(COD)₂, the most important factor in polymerization using NiX₂ is the combination of a catalyst and a ligand. In this study, the ratio of NiX₂catalyst, ligand and co-catalyst for polyphenylene synthesis was optimized. Polyphenylene with high molecular weight was successfully synthesized using NiX₂ catalyst, and the molecular weight was similar to that synthesized using Ni(COD)₂. The anion conductivity of quaternary ammonium bearing polyphenylene was characterized for anion exchange membrane applications. |
