R&D Activities in Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation for Sustainable Growth |

The establishment of a sustainable society has been a major concern as global warming has become more of a reality. The roles of chemical companies under such circumstances are considered very important in the sense that they could contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide by creating alternative chemical processes and systems. We introduce in the talk how Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation of Japan tacklesenvironmental issues in order to enhance the sustainability ofsociety. As the energy consumption of the chemical industry accounts for 37% of the entire manufacturing industry according to the statistics of Japanese government, it is thought to be very important to decrease the energy consumption in manufacturing chemical materials & products. In addition, various approaches like the development of renewable resources or the use of recycled products and the biodegradable materials are important to solveto the resources problem and the waste problem. |
