제목 NOVEL PHOTOCROSSLINKING NONLINEAR OPTICAL POLYMER SYSTEMS
초록 In this study, novel photocrosslinking guest-host nonlinear optical (NLO) polymer system was designed and synthesized. In the system, guest NLO molecules bearing photocrosslinking group such as cinnamate double bonds were homogeneously dispersed in the host photocrosslinking polymer matrix.1 The NLO molecules are then aligned by applying an electric field at an elevated temperature, followed by subsequent crosslinking by irradiating UV light. We expect the photoinduced crosslinking keeps the NLO molecules from relaxing to random orientation. The schematic diagram of the system is shown in Figure 1. The photocrosslinking NLO chromophores and polymers were synthesized as shown in Figure 2. Temporal stability of the orientation of NLO moiety in the system was investigated by monitoring the change of absorbance in the polarized UV-VIS spectra. The crosslinked NLO polymer system showed little change in the absorbance with time at an elevated temperature, while uncrosslinked polymer film exhibited rapid absorbance change with time at the same temperature. The NLO properties of this crosslinked films have been studied by second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements.
